Our Trainers

Every Trainer is an independent volunteer, meaning they have their own ministry. We train each volunteer and donate to help their ministry. We all consider ourselves joyful servants of Jesus and you. If we can serve or train you, please contact us.

Drew and Cindy Metcalf were missionaries in Central America where they started We Help Children. Drew has a license as a pastor and a masters degree in clinical psychology. He helps children and families learn how to heal from bad things that happened to them, as well as teach workshops and coach parents. He also trains orphanage staff how to be parents. Current orphanage work is being done online in Mongolia. He is passionate about empowering indigenous crisis volunteers and trainers to do the restoration work in their own country.

Cindy Metcalf pastors children, teen girls and mothers, and has experience working in residential programs with teenagers in crisis. She led the horse healing program and music in Central America. She is a gifted worship leader, playing the guitar and piano. She loves to see young people get restored and living for Christ. Cindy is in high demand with teenage girls seeking her help.

Donna Delp-Pitman is a RN, BSN, CEN is the volunteer Medical Director for We Help Children. Donna was trained as an Emergency Department nurse in the United States, and currently resides in Central America helping children and families in crisis communities.

Shelly Galpin runs a Horse Healing Program and Summer Camps in Pennsylvania where children get connected with horses, with Christ, with mentors, and with mental and emotional healing. Shelly is a joyful personality and is outstanding with horses and young people.

​Jenny Mucia is our volunteer Spanish Trainer and also helps families in crisis in her own country of Guatemala. Jenny gathers and trains volunteers to reach kids and families in crisis communities. She is one of the most talented child-care ministers and trainers we have ever seen. ​She trains Spanish people in Central America and North America (by zoom) learn how to help and restore families and children.

Harper Severence lives inside a large orphanage in Central America where she helps children and teens growing up there. She also serves in poor villages, hospitals, etc. She is the secretary for We Help Children.

Sylvia Asturias is the volunteer School Director for We Help Children in Central America. She works in public schools, orphanages and poor communities. She is a teacher, leader and mentor for volunteers learning how to help children in crisis. Sylvia has developed a program teaching children in schools about sexual abuse prevention. ​

Samantha Jakus is a Director of Children's Programs in inner city Chicago. She lives in a community in crisis listening to the same gun shots, drug deals and trauma situations that the children do. Samantha focuses on trauma healing for the children, and is invited into local schools to help children and teenagers. ​

Tara Harting is a blog writer ​for We Help Children. Her writing helps struggling parents learn from each other. Her work is raw and honest.

Dorothy Cavalcanit is the Prayer Coordinator for We Help Children. She prays for the crisis volunteers and trainers to encourage them. She also makes prayer pillows to help children feel connected to God's love. Info about at DorothysPrayerPillows.info​

​​Jenn Martin is the volunteer USA Director for We Help Children. She makes connections with caring people who want to get involved. Jenn has her own miracle story of being sexually abused as a child and now being a healthy, whole, happy Mom who helps others. She travels to churches, schools and small groups telling her story. Ezekiel Omware is a crisis volunteer and trainer in Kenya. He goes to crisis areas of his country helping children and training parents. Ezekiel is passionate about helping people in need.

Charbel Rajha is a crisis volunteer and trainer in Lebanon. He assertively goes into crisis areas of his country to help families and children. His specialty is helping people work together to help others. He is also a college professor and speaks three languages.

Deanne Zimmerman serves as a missionary in Thailand. She cooks in a school and teaches children. Deanne is a tell-it-like-it-is personality and is not afraid to be up front and honest with you. And we appreciate that about her! Teenagers need that.

Princessa is a golden retriever therapy dog who lives and works in an orphanage for disabled children in Central America. She is amazing with kids with a sweet and loving personality. We also have a therapy dog working at the healing and training farm.

Candi Aguilar lives and serves in Honduras. She has a testimony of being abused as a child and being healed and made whole by Jesus. Candi now goes to communities of crisis helping children learn and Moms get restored, trained and stay safe.

Shannon Alvarez lives in Central America and is our Administrative Assistant leader. She was born in Tennessee so comes with a great southern accent! Shannon is a nurse, a leader, and is as sharp as a tack. Her and her husband reach out to help kids in the streets.

Milton Sactic and his family go into the hardest to reach places in Guatemala and help the poor. Families living in stick houses and in dire situations get help. If there is a child who doesn't have a home, this family will take them in and provide for their needs and schooling.

Cory Wilson is our an on-call volunteer prayer minister and trainer. When he prays, results happen! If you need special prayer for anything, don't hesitate to contact us and we will get in contact with him.   
​There are others serving with us too, including a volunteer Board of Directors who oversees this ministry. Our goal is to train and equip crisis volunteers and trainers world-wide to restore their own country's children, teens and families. We also help restore families, teens and children in the USA at a healing and training farm. Please refer anyone to us who needs our help or wants to volunteer with our ministry. There are many opportunities to serve. Thank you!
